Making time for prevention

As a twenty-year veteran athletic trainer, I’ve lived the strain of managing the care of a high volume of athletes at any given time. I appreciate the importance of pre- and post-practice weights as an indicator of hydration, especially in hot and humid environments such as where I’ve lived and worked in the Carolinas and Virginia. Though weigh-ins seem easy, there never seems to be enough time or hands to reliably document weights, calculate change, and provide necessary feedback. On one particular day after having felt this impossibility, I began what would become many years of working toward a solution; I am so excited for Sportscale to finally be available! I am hopeful for the athletes whose lives it may save, and I am proud to lend a hand to athletic trainers who do their best to be in many places at once.
I’ve spent my career working to improve safety opportunities for athletes. It is my hope that Sportscale can be a solution for every school, club, and team seeking a better solution to monitor athlete safety.
